The Movable Jaw Feature, Explained

A movable (articulated) jaw lets the doll open and close its mouth naturally. It sounds like a small detail — it changes the face completely. Here is what to know.

What It Is

Inside a standard silicone or TPE head, the mouth is a fixed opening. A movable-jaw head adds a hinged jaw mechanism that opens and closes smoothly, holding any position you set. The lips part naturally, the mouth opens for expressions, and the face suddenly looks alive in photos.

Why Owners Love It

Expressions. A closed-mouth smile, slightly parted lips, an open laugh — one head can now do all of them. For photography the difference is enormous. For companionship, a face that changes expression feels far more present than a fixed one.

The hinge is a simple mechanical joint and holds up well. Do not force the jaw past its natural range, and support the chin when moving it. Clean the mouth gently with a damp cloth; avoid soaking the mechanism. Nothing about daily use requires special effort.
