What Is the EVO Skeleton?

If you have browsed doll specifications, you have seen "EVO skeleton" listed as an upgrade. Here is what it actually is and whether it is worth it.

The Basics

Every full-size doll has an internal metal skeleton that lets it hold poses. The standard skeleton bends at the shoulders, elbows, hips, knees and waist. The EVO skeleton is an upgraded joint system developed to unlock more natural, human-like poses.

What EVO Adds

The key upgrade is shoulder articulation. An EVO skeleton lets the shoulders roll forward and backward — so the doll can hug itself, cross its arms, or reach across its body. Standard shoulders only move up and down. EVO also improves the waist twist and, on many bodies, allows a deeper, more natural bend at the hips and spine.

Why It Matters in Practice

For photography and display, EVO is the difference between a stiff mannequin look and a relaxed, lifelike pose. For cuddling, the shoulder movement makes the doll feel dramatically more natural in your arms. It also reduces stress on the material around the joints, because poses no longer force the skin to compensate for limited joint travel.

Is It Worth the Upgrade?

EVO usually adds $100-200. If you plan to pose or photograph your doll often, or you want the most natural cuddle feel, we recommend it. If the doll will mostly stay in one resting pose, the standard skeleton is fine. Most dolls we sell offer EVO as a factory option — just ask us to include it in your configuration.
